Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy 59th Birthday Dad! I'm glad you were able to Celebrate St. Louis style. We cheered the Cardinals to a victory versus the San Diego Padres and enjoyed cake from the Missouri Baking Company on The Hill. The shirt and tie combo will be great for his new job at Rose Hulman. He'll look sharp sporting the colors of the Fightin' Engineers!

Sonic Youth

We did have some VIP passes and we ended up in a special reserved seating area on the steps of the Arch. It was a gorgeous night on the Mighty Mississippi with great music and great friends. It felt like a Reunion of everyone I ever attended a concert with in the 1990s. (All photos captured with my iPhone).

Planning a Girlfriends Getaway

Summer 2009 Road Trip: Visit Maggie in Minneapolis and Rock the Garden.
Tracy and I drove up to Iowa City to scoop up Beth and the three of us made
our way to the "Land of 10,000 Lakes." It was a lovely visit and we made a pact to
get together for another trip soon! Any suggestions? Right now, we're planning on
Labor Day weekend or a mid October weekend!

Twangfest 2009

One of my favorite weekends in June is during Twangfest. This was the 13th annual Twangfest. Kim joined me for some dancing fun in the Duck Room. We really enjoyed our time with the The Black Godfather aka Mr. Rhythm Andre Williams .

Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum

On Friday night, Claire and I stopped by the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum for the 2009 MFA Exhibition and Rirkrit Tiravanija: Chew the Fat. I wanted to take our picture together and I found this mirror which was perfect. Thanks to Ron for making the show so interesting, the installation looked great!

Pho Fro Yo

Beth is in town for Spring Break. YEAH! This usually means we eat at all of her favorite places. First stop, Pho Grand for Vietnamese food (so yummy)! Then on to a new Frozen Yogurt Place in the Delmar Loop called Fro Yo. I was eating the tart original flavored yogurt. Not my favorite.
Tonight, we tried the Happy Hour Tapas Tuesday at Modesto on The Hill. Beth always wants to eat at Modesto when she is in town. Not one of my favorites, but the price is just right on Tuesdays. Happy Hour is all night. Try the Datile Relleno - Cabrales-stuffed date wrapped in bacon for $1.50 each or the Albondiga - veal and pork meatball, $.25 each. Oh, and I almost forgot, Mild FUN also ordered a pitcher of sangria. This is Spring Break!

sugaree weekends

On my way home yesterday, I drove through Dogtown and had to stop for a pie. Claire and Ron have talked about how fabulous the pies at Sugaree Baking Company taste...so, I had to see for myself! The shop is darling.

This weekend's special is Strawberry Rhubarb. For the great price you can take home 6 Inch Pies for 5 dollars or 10 Inch Pies for 15 dollars. They are only open on Friday and Saturday from 11-6. Call ahead for flavors.

a new st.louis favorite.

This is a new St. Louis favorite Winslow's Home & Farm. I have now visited a few times and find it quite cozy. Their website is great too and shows how fun it is on the inside. Don't miss, the fire burning outside. I love that campfire smell on a cold winter day...it warms the soul!
Come on over...Or, I'll meet you there!

Beth is having a special in her Etsy shop! From January 25-February 8 she will be giving away a free pair of Linnea earrings with any order.

family at pietro's

(Leslie Stout Wulff, Claire Williams, Holly Williams, Scott Williams, Betty Gottardi, Adeline Callahan, Armand Gottardi, Armeen Gottardi Williams, William Wulff, Cheryl Stout, Elizabeth Williams)

Over the New Year's Holiday, Grandma and Grandpa Gottardi came with Dad to St.Louis/Illinois from Terre Haute for the long weekend. Of course, we made a visit to Harrah's!

Cheryl and I organized a family "get together" and we all met for dinner at Pietro's. Grandpa Armand said it was the best meal he has had in St. Louis. Now, that is saying something! I think he liked the bread best.

It was nice getting together and it reminded a lot of us of the meals we used to share at Louise's in Terre Haute.

favorite products: goshen coffee

The best part of waking up is brewing my favorite coffee from Goshen Coffee Company. And, great news...Goshen Coffee is now 100% Organic. (Even Sauce magazine picked up the story).

My favorite beans are the Mexican Chiapas. Can't wait to try a cup? Visit these locations around St. Louis or 222 Artisan Bakery in Edwardsville.

This is how I drink my favorite cup...in my favorite cup!
